UV DTF Application Instructions

UV DTF Transfer Application Instructions

Applying UV DTF transfers is a simple and effective process that allows you to instantly brand hard surfaces. Unlike traditional DTF that requires heat, UV DTF is a pressure-activated adhesive application. No heat press or special equipment is needed—just a few simple tools and a steady hand!

Step 1: Prepare the Surface

  • Clean: Use rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth to thoroughly clean the surface where you will be applying the transfer. This is a critical step to ensure the transfer adheres properly and for long-term durability.

  • Dry: Make sure the surface is completely dry before proceeding. Any moisture or debris will compromise the adhesive bond.

  • Compatibility: UV DTF transfers work best on hard, smooth surfaces such as glass, plastic, metal, wood, ceramic, and more. Avoid using them on soft, porous, or textured fabrics.

Step 2: Prepare the Transfer

  • Cut: If you have multiple designs on a single sheet, use scissors to carefully cut around the desired design. Avoid cutting into the design itself.

  • Placement: Before peeling the backing, place the transfer on your surface to test the positioning. Use a ruler or tape to ensure it is straight and centered.

Step 3: The Application

  • Peel Backing: Slowly and carefully peel the white backing from the transfer. You will notice the design is now tacky and exposed on the clear transfer film.

  • Position: Carefully align the sticky side of the design onto your cleaned surface. Be mindful of your placement, as the adhesive is very strong and repositioning is not recommended after initial contact.

  • Smooth: Starting from the center and working outwards, use a credit card, squeegee, or the edge of a plastic tool to firmly and evenly press down on the entire design. This ensures all air bubbles are removed and the adhesive makes full contact with the surface.

  • Pro Tip: Apply firm pressure to all areas of the design, especially the edges and fine details, to ensure a complete and lasting bond.

Step 4: Final Peel & Curing

  • The Peel: Slowly and carefully peel the clear top film away from the surface, starting from a corner. Peel at a sharp angle to ensure the design remains on the surface.

  • If it Lifts: If the design lifts with the film, press the film back down and re-squeegee that area with more pressure before trying to peel again.

  • Final Cure: The adhesive will continue to cure over the next 24 hours to reach its maximum strength. We recommend avoiding washing or heavy use of the item for 24 hours after application.

Recommended Care

To ensure the longevity of your UV DTF application, follow these simple care tips:

  • Hand wash only. UV DTF is not dishwasher safe.

  • Do not expose the item to extreme heat or soak it for extended periods.

  • Avoid using harsh abrasives or chemicals on the design.

Following these steps will result in a professional, durable, and eye-catching finish that will impress your customers.
